I just realized what has been bothering me for months now. My current screen is at a bad angle. It’s a very nice screen, a Samsung, but the screen’s base can’t really be adjusted. Since I am fairly tall, I look down at the screen at an angle, even though it’s on a small raised pedestal. And This lowers the contrast of the image for me. That’s definitely something I need to fix. Luckily, good displays are cheap these days.

  1. I have the same problem, but I’m lazy and cheap so I deal with it by slouching. I just have to get up and crack my back every so often.

I want a desk like the one at work that can raise. It’s nice to stand up and still type sometimes.

  2. I actually have two screens. The aforementioned Samsung, and a 20″ widescreen Dell screen that’s 8 years old and on the verge of giving up. What I think I will end up doing is throw away the broken Dell, move the Samsung to the left – where it is a bit further away thus improving the angle – and buying a Dell Professional P2412H which currently goes for 270-280 Euro.

I am a fan of Dell screens, they are of excellent quality, and the “Professional” ones can be adjusted in angle, height, and can even be turned by 90° (so the narrow side is the top of the screen).

  3. Ironically, I managed to improve the picture image greatly by fiddling with the screen’s settings!
